Before I exult the requisite and wholly deserved praise on China Buffet, I’ll start by sharing my brief challenge to classify it.

  • Is it a Sh–hole? No… There was no visible feces.
  • More of a Hole in the Wall? Close, but it’s actually quite large and maintains a stable brisk base of lunch customers
  • Lunch Room? Hrmm… Lunch room… A room where “lunch” can be purchased? Yes! That’s it!

Calling China Buffet a “lunch room” is high praise indeed. But, In order to qualify your expected level of appreciation let me ask you a question.

When you look for a place to enjoy lunch, which of these factors most influence your decision making process? :

- Copious amounts of MSG present in “food”?
- The need to hire a roofing crew?
- Unexplainable urge to thank the UDOT guy for helping with your flat tire?

If you answered yes to any of these questions then, not only should you respect the restraining order and keep 500 feet away from me, this is the place you’ve been looking for!

I enjoyed the “Mongolian” stir fry, choosing a mix of noodles, cabbage, broccoli, water chestnuts, beef and chili sauce with garlic. Sure, maybe it sounds horrific but man… it was great. Aside from the “build your own stir fry” section there’s a pretty standard selection of asian inspired buffett-style food. I’d describe in detail here but, if you’ve ever had Chinese food, you already know. The most important thing here I can tell you is: I’m pretty sure it was actually chicken.

Stay Classy.

I have always affectionately referred to this place as “Chinese Chuck-o-rama”. Where else can you get cream cheese won-tons and jello in the same meal? The guys at work who go there regularly and are probably most qualified to know, call the place “SCB” (perhaps some of you SNL fans remember Super Colon Blow). Enough said.
